Logs to Lustrons Reception and Talk
Fri, May 12, 2017, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM CDT
Doesn’t everyone love the Indiana Dunes? Get to know the area better by attending a reception and illustrated talk on May 12, 2017, preceding our Logs to Lustrons tour May 13 and May 14. Indiana Landmarks and the National Park Service (NPS) team up to present the illustrated talk, “Logs, Glass & Metal: A Century of Architectural Legacy.” Speakers include Todd Zeiger, Director of Indiana Landmarks’ Northern Regional Office Judith Collins, Historical Architect, and Cliff Goins, Speical Events Manager, both of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.
The evening takes place at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Portage Lakefront Pavilion, beginning at 7 p.m. Central Time, with a reception and light refreshments. The talk runs from 7:30-8:30 p.m., followed by more refreshments and Q&A session that concludes at 9 p.m. The pavilion is handicapped accessible.
At the event, you’ll hear about architecture in the Indiana Dunes, including a dozen sites featured on the Logs to Lustrons tour that span a century, from early nineteenth-century log structures and buildings that show the influence of Swedish settlers to Mid-Century Modern houses.
The lecture will introduce the structures on the tour, and help you choose those where you want to spend the most time.
