Description

Welcome to the 4th Industrial Revolution

Some of you may still be asking, what is the 4th Industrial Revolution?

Since the year 1780, people have been transforming the way humans do their jobs and live their lives by using machines and innovation, otherwise known as disruptive technologies (or disruptive effects). The Internet of Things (IoT) is part of the new revolution which is happening now, where humans connect with technology, devices connect to other devices, and we expect to see some highly innovative technologies on the way, including AI.

There are a variety of different technologies, machines and services to help transform companies into Smart Companies - such as a Smart Factory which uses Big Data for instance - becoming highly effective and cost efficient businesses.

This talk will demonstrate how the 4th Industrial Revolution impacts the society, socially and economically.

William Pagnon

William is the founder and CEO of Freelance Robotics, an automation and innovation company based in Brisbane, Australia. William was born in France and developed an early love of electronics and mechanics stemming from his curiosity about how things worked. After initially embarking on a trade course, that developed his practical skills, William decided that he needed to quench his thirst for knowledge through university
study. He worked extremely hard to gain acceptance, and then graduate with a masters degree in robotics from the premier engineering school - ESIEA. William continued to work with small machines throughout his university study.

Following graduation, William moved to Italy and learned the Italian language while working in manufacturing automation roles. Realising there was still much to learn in the field of robotics, William took the opportunity to move to Brisbane to complete a second masters at the University of Queensland. He then worked with a technology company where he designed and built automated farm machinery.

William established Freelance Robotics in 2009 to bridge the gap between industry and research and development. William truly believes that technology and automation have the potential to transform our lives. They can free us from the trivial manual labour of the past and allow us to participate in safer, more meaningful work, enjoying better lifestyles no matter what level of an organisation we are at.
