Description

The Photo Book:

Manfred Heiting, Alan Rinzler, and Paul Schiek

Moderated by Sandra Philips

The power and voice of photography was greatly amplified when we began printing images with ink on paper, creating mass-produced, and illustrated books. Why have they become so important and what effect do they have in the world and on our art? What are some of the iconic books, old and new, that have fascinated and surprised you?

-------------

Photographers and the Book:

Carolyn Drake, Larry Fink, and Ken Schles

Moderated by Brian Wallis

What is it about the object we call the photo book that makes it so well-suited to shelter, define, and preserve the images and moments frozen and framed on the printed page? Has your work been impacted by this medium as you photograph and gather your photos to publish?

--------------

The Business of Photo Books:

Bob Aufuldish, Mary Bisbee-Beek, and Jason Eskenazi

Moderated by Stephen Woodall

Photos in bound and graphic form take many steps to produce, from images to the bound volume. There are many hard choices to make. Should you self-publish, seek a commercial publisher? What are the design considerations, and how do you reach, indeed can you reach an audience?
