Reimbursement of up to $50 per night for lodging in NYC is available to a limited number of STEMteachersNYC workshop participants who live outside the NYC Metropolitan Region. For 3-week workshops, maximum reimbursement is $750 (15 days); for 1-week workshops, maximum reimbursement is $250 (5 nights).
1. Individual must agree to conditions and then complete and submit “Lodging Reimbursement Application” by registering above. Application requires a copy of utility bill or driver’s license showing primary home address. The minimum time to travel from home to Teachers College must be greater than 90 minutes, as shown on Google Maps .
2. Decisions will be made on a rolling basis, and applicants will be notified by email at the address they provided in the application. After applicants are notified, they must do the following:
a. Agree to accept the offer of reimbursement within one week of receiving the offer or the offer will no longer be valid.
b. Register for the workshop and pay the registration fee ($50 or $100, depending upon workshop) within one week of receiving the offer of reimbursement or the offer will no longer be valid.
c. Pay the remainder of the workshop fee ($149 or $499, depending upon workshop), or the offer of reimbursement for lodging will no longer be valid.
3. If staying in lodging arranged by us, the stipend will be deducted from the bill and participant will pay any balance. If you book and stay in alternate lodging, participant must submit original receipts (electronic scan or photo of original acceptable) showing amount paid for lodging expenses and complete your workshop to receive reimbursement.
Decisions on reimbursement applications will be made on a rolling basis as the applications are received. Decisions are final and are at the discretion of STEMteachersNYC. Funds for reimbursement are limited, and applications will be accepted only for as long as the funds last. Participants are encouraged to share rooms if possible, in which case, all participants are eligible for reimbursement separately up to the maximum. STEMteachersNYC was originated in summer of 2011 by a group of teachers as a teacher-led study group. STEMteachersNYC has grown to over 600 members and is an affiliate of AMTA (American Modeling Teachers Association).
