Locker Room Talk: Confronting Sexual Violence in the Age of Trump
Sun, April 23, 2017, 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM PDT
Oakland, CA – On April 23rd, 2017 Locker Room Talk: Confronting Sexual Violence in the Age of Trump takes place at the brand new East Bay Community Space near the Temescal District.
In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Locker Room Talk presents motivational speakers, an expert panel discussion, and artists’ performances to address how electing a sexual predator to the Presidency impacts our social climate, especially efforts to curb the sexual assault epidemic.
In the final weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign, the country was shocked by the release of the infamous Access Hollywood video featuring Donald Trump swearing and bragging about using his celebrity to commit acts of sexual assault.
On the heels of his inauguration, The Women’s March flooded streets with millions of protestors across the country and internationally. It was the largest protest in U.S. history, but aside from the powerful optics of disapproval for Trump, the effort has been lamented as a missed opportunity to create tangible change.
Partnering with Bay Area Women Against Rape (BAWAR) and other social justice organizations, Locker Room Talk creates access points for community members to take action.
