Join us for a community forum on the future of local news.

About this Event

Across Colorado, a movement is afoot to chart a new path for local journalism. Having witnessed newsrooms shrink and shut down, many reporters, entrepreneurs, residents, and philanthropists are leading efforts to reimagine what local news can look like, and how they can serve the state’s diverse communities.

But no one knows what sort of news and information communities need better than community members themselves. That’s why the Colorado Media Project and Free Press want to hear from you:

  • What issues need to be covered?
  • Whose stories need to be told?
  • How can local news meet the needs of Boulder County's communities of color, youth, seniors, immigrants, and other underserved communities?

On October 16, join the Colorado Media Project and Free Press to add your voice and ideas to this important conversation. We want to revive, strengthen, and transform local journalism, and we can’t do it without you.

Here are the details:

  • What: Local Voices for Local News
  • When: Wed., October 16, 6—8 p.m. (doors open at 5:30pm; light refreshments will be served)
  • Where: Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Rd, Longmont

You’ll have the chance to share your ideas about the future of news and meet others creating solutions to fill local reporting gaps. You’ll hear from community leaders who are building innovative models for local journalism in Longmont and Boulder, and learn about new research by the Colorado Media Project on the state of media in Colorado.
