Event description

Description

Join us for a free workshop for municipal and county sustainability managers, community energy coordinators, local non-profits, and sustinability advocates on the basics and benefits of energy codes and how they can support local sustainability and climate goals. We’ll learn about model codes, how they progressively improve energy efficiency, the code adoption process, and how energy codes help communities thrive while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We’ll also hear where codes stand in each jurisdiction in Colorado, where codes are headed in the future, and how Colorado communities are handling the opportunities and challenges of updated codes. Participants will get tips from building officials for coordinating their community’s adoption of energy codes with the building department.

Optional Afternoon Add-On: Stay for a separate deeper dive from 2:30-4:30 on how local government officials can participate in the voting process for the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code, presented by “The Power Is In our Hands” energy codes initiative (ACEEE, USDN, ICLEI, NARC, and EECC). Separate registration for the add-on event is here.

FOR:

Municipal, county, and state employees, community energy coordinators, local nonprofits, and sustainability advocates working on sustainability issues or building codes
