About this event
Back Pocket Media and WFAE are teaming up for a virtual storytelling event worth your evening in quarantine.
Local Live(s) is a show that brings together journalists and community members for a night of entertainment and conversation. Think TED Talk or the Moth except with captivating stories from journalists and Charlotte locals.
- Live music from Charlotte-based lyricist and rapper SWATS.
- The story behind the story from acclaimed journalist Tommy Tomlinson, the host of WFAE's "Southbound" podcast.
- Legendary civil rights, union and community organizer/musician Si Kahn brings us a story about the challenges facing union workers in 1970's North Carolina.
- A gripping story from multimedia journalist Laura Brache, who covers immigration and deportation for WFAE.
- Diashanna Logan, a Charlotte-based spoken word artist, talks about her less-than-usual experience rushing into a college sorority.
