About this Event

In preparation for the upcoming town election season, Women in Democracy Dedham (WINDD) is hosting multiple events and services to help demystify the election process, prepare potential candidates, and inform voters about their options. The first of these will be the popular Local Government 101: How You Can Make a Difference in Dedham program on Thursday, January 30th from 6:45 – 8:30 pm at the Endicott Estate at 656 East Street in Dedham.

This event is free and open to anyone interested in serving in elected or appointed positions, including Town Meeting, or those who just want to learn more about the local electoral process. Paul Munchbach, Town Clerk, will explain how to pull papers to run for office and provide an overview of campaign finance requirements. Dan Driscoll, Town Moderator, will give an overview of the Town Meeting form of government. Residents will also have the opportunity to ask questions of a panel of elected officials.

Candidates considering a run in the upcoming election are encouraged to attend; time will be reserved to introduce any candidates who have already decided to run, and the event provides a great opportunity to collect signatures for nomination papers. Following the meeting, there will be informal networking and refreshments – a good opportunity to meet your neighbors, candidates, and elected officials.

Free childcare will be provided if requested in advance. Please email winddedham@gmail.com for details.
