Widespread destruction along with power outages and phone service disruptions from tornadoes, ice storms and other extreme weather events make Emergency preparedness a concern for everyone.

You can learn about local preparedness efforts and local group activities by attending this 90 minute briefing on May 14, 2019 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Aiken County Public Library on Chesterfield Ave. in Aiken, SC. The event free and open to the public.

You’ll get four 15 minute briefings on services you can depend upon what you can do to protect yourself, your family and support the community in the event of a widespread emergencies or local disasters. Topics covered will include:

+ Aiken County Emergency Management planning and operations

+ Amateur Radio Emergency Services and how you can participate

+ Aiken County School’s programs preparing students for emergencies

+ All Hazards NOAA Weather Radio alerts and Severe Storm Spotters

There will be a 10 minute refreshment break midway through the program.
