Living With Palliative Care: Excerpts from a New Documentary

Join us to learn the guiding principles of palliative care and understand how palliative care differs from Hospice. Widespread misconceptions about palliative care exist among individuals who could benefit from this specialty, along with health care professionals who could refer and support patients with serious illness.

See video clips from the documentary film, Living With Palliative Care, which shows how, when, and why patients might choose palliative care.

The film is based on the story of Joan Blumenfeld, an 85-year-old woman and retired geriatric care manager, who used palliative care to maintain quality of life in the face of a hard diagnosis. The creation of this educational film became Joan’s passion and legacy project at the end of her life.

CEU Credits Available for Social Workers.

Learning Objectives:

1. Distinguish palliative care from Hospice.

2. Outline the guiding principles of palliative care.

3. Discuss when, how, and why patients might choose palliative care to address serious illness.

1.5 continuing education credit hours from the National Association of Social Workers, CT to meet the continuing education criteria for CT Social Work licensure renewal.
