Due to the sensitive nature of the group, the group will be led by a licensed therapist.
In WakeUp Carolina’s efforts with families who have lost loved ones, we’ve often seen how others within the inner circle can be overlooked outside of the direct family. We feel compelled at attempting to help the entire system around someone that has been lost too early. Including but not limited to, mother’s, father’s, sibling’s, friends, cousins, aunt’s, uncle’s, mentors and/or healthcare workers. Acknowledging the impact felt at each level of an individual's inner circle and educating participants on the grieving process.
The support group provides a community and a safe place for individuals to share their experiences about the impact of loss due to addiction. Individuals often find encouragement and benefit from receiving support from peers who have endured similar losses. A licensed therapist will provide education on various topics related to grief, loss, and grief recovery, followed by facilitating a peer support group.
