Living The Truth We Know: Engaging Inclusivity
Event Information
About this Event
Unity’s 5th Principle says that it is not enough to know the Truth; we must live the Truth we know. This is easier said than done.
In this 3-hour workshop, Rev. Russell and the Unity of Fairfax Social Justice Team invite you to explore the paradigms that uphold racism and many other -isms that prevent people from fully expressing the Christ within. Not only will we explore the internal mental beliefs and external social structures that preclude “equal justice under law,” but we will learn ways to nonviolently engage in creating a world of “peace, abundance, and respect for all creation.”
Although there is no single required text for this course, students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the work of anti-racism authors such as Ibram X. Kendi, Robin DiAngelo, Cornel West, Michelle Singletary, James Baldwin, and DeRay McKesson.
NOTE: The content of this program may challenge long-held or embedded or unconscious beliefs. For the program to have maximum benefit, participants must agree to respectful listening to the experiences of others that may be difficult to comprehend.
