Description

We invite everyone in the community to join us for our Black History Month Observance celebrating the life, legacy, and message of Dr. King with prolific speakers, inspiring music, and presentation of scholarship to a deserving student. Program theme: Living the Dream: Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Program will be emceed by Augusta WRDW News 12 Anchor Ms. Monique Williams with a guest appearance by Augusta's only Historically Black College and University, President of Paine College, Dr. Jerry Hardee. Keynote address brought by Dr. Robert P. Taylor, current Bladen County North Carolina Superintendent of Schools and 2017 Medal of Honor Recipient of North Carolina State University’s College of Education Friday Institute for Educational Innovation; a prestigious honor presented to an individual who has shown tremendous effort and dedication to enriching the community through the lives of children.

Student award winner of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Competition presented by Brownstone Mediation Services will also be recognized among other program participants.

Observance theme inspired from Dr. King--“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?”

Observance will be followed by a Gospel Music Celebration at 4:00pm with the dynamic soul stirrers Lisa Brown & the Knowles Singers, Memphis TN. Tickets $20.
