This Brighton event is part of a tour of the UK and Ireland by Zen Buddhist nuns and monks from Plum Village, which is taking place throughout May and June 2023. The talk will explore how to wake up to life in the present moment, and cultivate the art of living mindfully.

We can learn simple and practical ways to nourish joy, cultivate peace and find healing in the midst of our everyday lives, by bringing full awareness to all our daily activities - walking, eating, working, sitting and resting.

The monastic community of Plum Village practices in the tradition of the late Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay). A peace activist, exile and poet, Thay founded engaged Buddhism and is known as the father of mindfulness in the West. His first monastery, near Bordeaux in France, created in the wake of the Vietnam War, enables people from across the world to find a place to rest, recharge, and learn the art of mindful living in community. There are now monastic and lay practice centres in this tradition all around the world.
