Event description

Description

We live in a time when authentically exploring the meaning and impact of race and anti-racism could not be more important for multi-racial faith communities.

Please join us for a day of workshop and retreat designed to facilitate justice-informed dialogue, listening and response. Together we will engage the challenging but deeply transformative work of exploring how frameworks of racial repair might enable a new approach to interracial relationships and the journey of anti-racism as people of faith.

Rev. Drs. Melanie Harris and Jennifer Harvey will draw on their experience and expertise to guide us in authentic exploration through small and large group discussions. The day is designed to empower both individual and collective growth. All are welcome to attend.

The Rev. Dr. Melanie L. Harris (AME) is the American Council of Education Fellow at the University of Denver and Founding Director of African American and Africana Studies and Full Professor of Religion and Ethics at TCU. She is the author of Gifts of Virtue: Alice Walker and Womanist Ethics, Ecowomanism: Earth Honoring Faiths and co-editor of Faith, Feminism, and Scholarship: The Next Generation.

The Rev. Dr. Jennifer Harvey (ABC) is Professor of Religion and Faculty Director of the Crew Scholars Program at Drake University. She is the author of Dear White Christians: For Those Still Longing for Racial Reconciliation and the recently published Raising White Kids: Bringing Up Children in a Racially Unjust America.
