Event Details

Bishop Karen Oliveto

Bishop Karen P. Oliveto serves as the leader of the Mountain Sky Area of The United Methodist Church. It includes approximately 378 congregations in Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and one church in Idaho. Bishop Oliveto was elected to the area after serving as the first woman pastor of the 12,000-member Glide Memorial United Methodist Church in San Francisco, California. She is the first woman to serve as senior pastor of one of The United Methodist Church’s 100 largest congregations. She served Glide from 2008 until her election as bishop. Bishop Oliveto is married to Robin Ridenour, who is a deaconess in The United Methodist Church's California-Nevada Conference.

After her election, Bishop Oliveto wrote to the churches she would serve, "My dream is that we live into beloved community. My dream is that we live boldly as the body of Christ and love so fully, so completely, that the neighborhoods in which United Methodist Churches stand are utterly transformed by the love that spills out of these communities.”

Join us for this on-site luncheon. In addition, we will honor the recipients of the MFSA “Building a Just Community” Awards.
