About the Lecture

Osteoarthritis is the most common type or arthritis in the country and the world at large.  It is an ancient disease dating back thousands of years.  The most common areas involved in osteoarthritis are spine and neck, hip, knee, hand and foot, although any joint can be involved.  In this lecture we will discuss the history and development of this type of arthritis and the latest cutting-edge advancements in the treatment and research of osteoarthritis designed to relieve pain and improve day-to-day function.

 

About Dr. Gall

Dr. Gall is the interim director and founder of the University of Arizona Arthritis Center and a Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Section of Rheumatology at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson.  He is an emeritus professor of medicine and former chief of medicine at the Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University.  A national expert on innovative teaching methods, he returned to the University of Arizona Arthritis Center in 2010 as interim director.  He has been elected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Doctors in America from 2001 – current.  His research interests include new treatments for arthritis, the development of arthritis, metabolic bone disease and hemophilic arthritis; and diseases with abnormal collagen that result in hyper-mobility.  He serves as an expert consultant on hyper-mobility disorders, such as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

 

Parking

Parking is available in the University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus visitor/patient parking garage.  The fee is $1.50 per hour, cash only.  Free parking is available after 5:00 p.m., in the UA Zone 1 permit and metered parking lot 2030, just south of the parking garage at East Mabel Street and Martin Avenue.

 The Living Healthy With Arthritis program is a community based intervention program that uses education to promote optimal health. The University of Arizona Arthritis Center faculty and staff, as well as experts from the community present topics monthly.
