Event description

Description

This workshop, presented by First Unitarian Universalist Church of Berks County, will focus on developing a life of personal activism and be led by John Pavlovitz, author, pastor, blogger, and social activist from Wake Forest, North Carolina. Pavlovitz will lead the group to identify how each participant can become or continue to be a social justice activist in their day to day lives, while acknowledging and dealing with compassion fatigue.

In the past five years John's blog, Stuff That Needs To Be Said has reached a diverse worldwide audience of millions of people, and he is widely regarded as a leading voice in progressive faith in America. A 22-year veteran in the trenches of local church ministry, John is committed to equality, diversity, and justice—both inside and outside faith communities. In 2017 he released his first book, A Bigger Table. His second book, Hope and Other Superpowers, arrived in November 2018.

Lunch will be provided and is included in the registration cost.

Workshop seating is limited.

Workshop registration is $25 per person and includes lunch. (Note: there is a service fee of $3.16 per ticket charged by EventBrite so the total for each workshop registration is $28.16) Scholarships are available. We do not want financial concerns to prevent anyone from attending and participating.

There is a parking garage conveniently located across the street from First Unitarian Universalist Church of Berks County. Street parking is also available. Parking cost is not included in the workshop registration fee.

Please contact Lauren Fritz at LaurenandJohnFritz@juno.com OR Terri Bridgwater at terribridgwater@yahoo.com and put WORKSHOP SCHOLARSHIP in the subject line to request a workshop scholarship.
