A 75-minute yoga and self-myofascial release class designed to help keep you running injury-free.

About this Event

With social distancing and warmer weather, there’s been a serious uptick in running lately. If you’re like me and running a few more miles than usual, this practice is for you.

In this class, you’ll learn simple techniques to help improve your durability and minimize aches, pains, and injuries so you can continue to run well for weeks, months, and years to come. Join me to learn how yoga can compliment your training and improve your athletic performance.

Expect to leave with a solid understanding of the specific yoga postures and self-massage techniques you can use to supplement your running in order to:

  • Maintain the health and function of your joints
  • Increase flexibility and range of motion
  • Ease muscular tension
  • Improve your strength and stability
  • Lower your risk of overuse injuries
  • Maximize your recovery time

This workshop is suitable for all types of runners at any level of experience — including those just getting started, weekend warriors, as well as both recreational and competitive athletes. No prior experience with yoga or myofascial release — or prerequisite amount of flexibility — are required.

PROPS NEEDED: Foam roller OR a yoga block and a myofascial release/lacrosse/tennis ball.

PRICE: $15 per person — a recording of the class will be emailed to all pre-registered participants after the class.

ABOUT ME: Alison is an accomplished ultramarathoner, triathlete, and competitive CrossFit athlete. She is a Level 2 RRCA-Certified Running Coach, a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) & Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and an experienced Yoga Medicine Teacher. She works with people to create movement and wellness strategies that minimize pain and injury so they can stay active and keep pursuing the things they enjoy in life through her in-person class offerings in the Washington DC Metro area, online Yoga for Durability classes, and her mental durability meditation podcast, GRIT + grace . Her book, The Durable Runner, combines corrective exercise, self-myofascial release, and yoga to help runners develop a solid training strategy to help prevent physical injury and mental burnout. She also consults with gyms to create comprehensive durability protocol to keep members healthy, active, and injury-free.
