About this Event

The Lives in the Balance (Virtual) European Summit is a day filled with dynamic speakers, compelling topics, and invaluable information. The Summit features keynote speakers Peter Vermeulen, Ph.D., and Sarah Ward, CCC-SLP, and a wide range of breakout groups for parents, educators, and clinicians in a vast array of languages. And if you can't join in live, your registration gives you access to the recordings for two weeks!

What time does the webinar begin? ZOOM log in is at 8:35 am (CET) CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME. The webinar begins at 8:45 CET and ends at 4:15 CET.

Can I receive a refund? Attendees can receive a refund 7 days prior to September 22, 2021. After that you will receive a credit toward any future workshop with us within 5 years. Credit will not be given if you do not cancel prior to the event.

SUMMIT KEYNOTE SPEAKERS 2021

Peter Vermeulen, PhD., has worked with people with autism spectrum disorders and their families for more than 30 years. He is a Senior lecturer at Autisme Centraal, a training and education center for autism spectrum disorders. Peter is an internationally respected lecturer/trainer and he presents all over Europe and beyond. Peter has written more than 15 books and several articles on autism. His books include, “This is the title: on autistic thinking” (2001), “I am Special: handbook for psycho-education” (2000, 2013), and “Autism as Context Blindness” (2012), a book than won several awards in the USA. Sarah Ward, M.S., CCC/SLP has over 25 years experience in diagnostic evaluations, treatment and 
case management of children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of developmental and 
acquired brain based learning difficulties and behavioral problems. Her particular interest is in the assessment and treatment of executive function deficits.

 Sarah is dedicated to developing innovative treatment strategies and educating the community to 
understand, care for and celebrate the learning and behavioral based differences in individuals with 
brain based learning differences.

Summit Breakout Presenters 2021

Daniel Albrecht is a certified CPS-provider and special educational teacher. He works with supporting high absence pupils in the Swedish-Speaking school system in Espoo, Finland. He also does in-service trainings and academic courses for teachers and teacher-students on school absence and challenging behaviors.

Fouzi Benbouzid has 20 years of experience in the Swedish school system, including as a school leader, Fouzi has come to specialize in students with concerning behavior and high school absenteeism. As one of six CPS trainers in Sweden, he helps preschools, schools and businesses implement the CPS model in their organizations.

Tasja Bergh is a licensed psychologist and organizational consultant, born in Berlin and now based in Stockholm. She is a certified CPS provider since 2016 and CPS trainer since 2018. Tasja has many years of experience from school organisations and is focusing on quality management as well as organizational, leadership and team development. She is working with psychological coaching to help leaders to implement organizational change. She also conducts training and psychological coaching of staff. Tasja has been working with implementing CPS in the Ekerö school district since 2016. Her goal is to create efficient learning organisations which enable growth and development for all students and staff.

Zandra Christiansen is Lic. Psychologist and Specialist in Educational Psychology. Today she runs her company Zeropointpsychology AB. Zandra has a clinical background. For two decades she´s been working in school systems, primarily with student health care, supervision, leadership and organization development. Since 2017 Zandra has been a Trainer for Lives in the Balance. She has the experience of change management where she´s been a part of initiating and leading the process of implementation of CPS in Ekerö from 2016-2019.

Margareta (Maggie) Fehland has worked with challenging children and young people since 1987. After completing her master's studies in 2009, Maggie worked as an assistant professor at Malmö University's Social Psychiatric program and the Social Work program until 2019. For the past two years, Maggie has been working as an assistant principal at an elementary school in Vellinge municipality. Maggie was certified in CPS 2017 and has been a CPS Trainer since 2020.

Cynthia Graton is Director of Quality Control at Lives in the Balance and an educational psychologist at Insitut Philippe Pinel in Montreal and a certified provider and trainer in Collaborative & Proactive Solutions. She has trained many schools and facilities in implementing the CPS model for Lives in the Balance.

Ross W. Greene, Ph.D., is the originator of the innovative, evidence-based approach – called Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) – described in his influential books The Explosive Child, Lost at School, Lost & Found, and Raising Human Beings. He also developed and executive produced the documentary film The Kids We Lose. Dr. Greene was on the faculty at Harvard Medical School for over 20 years, and is now Founding Director of the non-profit Lives in the Balance. He is currently adjunct professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech and adjunct professor in the Faculty of Science at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Greene and his colleagues at Lives in the Balance have overseen implementation and evaluation of the CPS model in hundreds of schools, inpatient psychiatry units, and residential and juvenile detention facilities, with dramatic effect: significant reductions in discipline referrals, detentions, suspensions, and the use of restraint procedures and solitary confinement.

Mette Christensen Jensen is currently working as a consultant of educational psychology in Aalborg Municipality, facilitating the work connected to implementing CPS in schools.

Caroline Weibull is a special educator with experience in working with students with learning and social difficulties. CPS is part of her daily work together with students, teachers and parents. Caroline gives lectures at Malmö University and is part of the Swedish CPS certification training as a trainer.
