This update includes two fantastic presentations from researchers Dr Belinda Morley and Professor Steven Allender on evaluating obesity prevention efforts; LiveLighter sugary drinks campaign and Community led action on childhood obesity in Western Victoria. Come and hear the highlights from the past 12 months of work.
Dr Belinda Morley
As Obesity Prevention Research and Evaluation Manager, Belinda undertakes behavioural research projects and program evaluation studies to support obesity prevention initiatives. She has a PhD in Psychology and a Master’s in Public Health.
Belinda will present results of the Victorian LiveLighter sugary drink campaign.
Professor Steven Allender
Dr Steven Allender is Professor of Public Health and founding Director of the Global Obesity Centre at Deakin University, a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Obesity Prevention.
Steve has an ongoing programme of research on solving complex problems with a focus on the burden of chronic disease and obesity prevention. Recent work has seen a particular interest in the emerging burden of chronic disease in developed and developing countries and the possibilities for using complex systems approaches for community based intervention.
Professor Allender will present Community led action on childhood obesity in Western Victoria.
