This 3-hour interactive webinar will continue to deeply explore how to support and work with clients and their families in the playroom when they have experienced trauma. This two-hour webinar will further expand on how to work with clients, understanding and exploring attachment issues, use of helping clients to express their trauma narrative nonverbal using both directive and nondirective play therapy approaches.  You did not have to attended Part 1.

Webinar Description: 

Clinicians who treat young people who experience the effects of Developmental Trauma Disorder often get a medley of inaccurate diagnoses and ineffective treatment.  The inclusion of DTD in the DSM will give clinicians a more accurate diagnosis and treatment interventions for working it children in foster care and adoption. Understanding the importance of using a trauma and adoption competent lens for treating children and their families who have been impacted by trauma is vital for healing. 

Learning objectives

1. Participants will explore the Theraplay although not a theory, this approach is historically significant in looking at the therapeutic relationship with clients in sessions.

 2. Participants will discuss 6 direct and non-direct play therapy interventions to use when working with clients.

 3. Participants will describe the impact of significant trauma has on a child’s brain development, and how this can affect their emotional response in play sessions.

 4. Participants will describe the rationale for integrative approaches to play therapy with traumatized children and youth.

5. Participants will explore the interventions to use healthy and appropriate touch in play therapy sessions with clients and their families.

Play therapy credit will not be awarded to non-mental health professionals” be displayed when offering training to individuals across multiple disciplines.
