Join Olga on this live-stream Berlin tour to explore the city’s oldest quarter, the idyllic Nikolaiviertel. In the Middle Ages, a trading route passed through Berlin at this place. Around 1200 the Nikolaikirche (Nikolai church) was built and the quarter became the heart of the new settlements of Berlin and Cölln.Until the Second World War, the Nikolaiviertel (Nikolai quarter) was the place of taverns, shops, courtyards and tradesmen houses. WW2 bombing raids brought this quarter to the rubble. During the time of the Wall the Nikolaiviertel was part of East Berlin. Only in 1987 the city’s oldest quarter was reconstructed according to historic records creating an illusion that the old Berlin had returned.On this live-stream tour, Olga will take you on a stroll along cobbled narrow streets of the Nikolaiviertel and along the Spree river. You’ll soak in the beautifulviews, explore history, see the most important sights and the beautiful baroque architecture of Berlin’s oldest quarter.
