“Live Virtual Distance Teaching”

As we continue the journey in becoming a truly “dispersed” and “unified” university, I am pleased to announce a tool that will assist you in this process.

We will be offering an initial certification program designed to assist faculty to improve their course development and facilitation skills in designing and delivering classes using a methodology known as

*These sessions are for faculty members who are scheduled to teach ITV courses in Summer 2017 and Fall 2017*

-This is a three part series

-To receive a certificate of completion, participants must attend 2 out of the 3 events


Session Description:

Session 1 – Getting Started (2 hour) Friday, March 24, 2017

  • Technology Hands On: Learning the Tools
  • Virtual etiquette review and guidelines

Session 2 – Designing Live Virtual Distance Course (2 hours) Friday, March 31, 2017

  • Characteristics of virtual classroom
  • Content volume & Activity examples
  • 10 commandments for “hands-on design
  • Facilitating Live Virtual Distance Course (2 hours)

Session 3 – Facilitating Live Session (2 hours) Friday, April 07, 2017

  • Designed and delivered 20-minute practice session
