About this Event

Join the IOP as we welcome former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power for a live recording of “The Axe Files,” hosted by Institute Director David Axelrod. She will discuss her new memoir, The Education of an Idealist, which traces her career in public service.

Amb. Power began her career as a journalist, writing for publications such as TIME, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and The New York Review of Books. During the first term of the Obama administration, she served on the National Security Council as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights. In 2013, President Obama appointed her as the 28th U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations. She is now the Anna Lindh Professor of the Practice of Global Leadership and Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School and the William D. Zabel ’61 Professor of Practice in Human Rights at Harvard Law School.
