About this event
Thank you for your support of "Ladies at A Gay Girls' Bar." While performances are canceled or postponed, I'm offering you a rehearsal from my living room!
Feel free to come and go - I don't mind if you just watch a little. If you want, we can chat afterward. Probably Percy the cat will make an appearance, or several. I'll try not to trip over his cat tree.
Come spend an evening at a “gay girls” bar. The Stonewall Rebellion is on the horizon, but across the U.S., working-class lesbians are fighting to create spaces where they can be themselves. They dress up, they flirt, they dance, and they become a powerful force for queer visibility.
Maggie Cee illuminates the feminine women whose stories are too often forgotten, bringing them to life through dance, music, historical text and original monologues. She explores her years as a teenage gay rights activist, her own identity, and fem history. The Hartford Courant called it a "major highlight" of the Hartford Fringe Festival.
