Description

THE MERCY ALLIANCE is an indie-rock trio led by Joe Rathbone, a seasoned songwriter, singer, and guitar player based in Washington, D.C., who has garnered a reputation for his lyrically rich, musically layered, song-driven studio albums. Both as a solo performer and a bandleader, he has brought his image-filled songs and evocative melodies to venues up and down the East Coast and across the country. Sirius XM and AAA stations like New York's WFUV have championed the band and they have appeared on public radio's Mountain Stage and have shared stages with artists like Shawn Colvin and Tim Finn.

Bassist Ken Spector and drummer "BAM" Feldman (both veterans of the Philly and DC indie scenes as former members of numerous bands) provide an energetic and dynamic rhythm section propping up Joe’s big guitar sound while vocalist/percussionist Andrew Ratliff lends beautiful harmony to Rathbone's gritty baritone. Their live shows feature great grooves, ear-catching choruses, bold guitar solos, and a passionate, positive vibe..

"Some Kind of Beautiful Story" was released on Sep 9th 2014 in the US on Beverly Martel Music. Recorded in producer Thomas Johansen's "Strawhorse" studios in Los Angeles, the record features drummer Steve Bowman (ex Counting Crows) and bassist Brad Jones as well as string work from longtime associate David Henry. A new record "Dreamland" is in the works for a Summer 2020 release date.
