Brooklyn Indie Artists & Songwriters - Devlin Miles and Carolann Solebello are collaborating to launch:

Live from The Vault: Songwriter Sessions

A curated night of songs with 3 songwriters to be performed in-the-round in the unique coal vaults, downstairs at Putnam's Pub & Cooker. This intimate evening will be hosted once a month on every 2nd Thursday for 1 year. A special look behind-the-song as each songwriter will introduce a song and welcome on-the-spot collaboration or sing-a-longs from the other songwriters on the panel and the audience.

*This series will sell out, as it is an intimate Speakeasy kind of place, with limitied space. TICKETS REQUIRED, taking place in the Coal Vaults underneath Putnams Pub & Cooker. "We couldn't have found a better place to experience where the song babies come from, as we mine for the diamonds!" Devlin Miles

We strongly encourage you to purchase the subscription to the year long series to secure the bookings of great songwriters and support the monthly series.

June 13th at 7:30pm co-host Carolann Solebello

Karyn Oliver - https://karynoliver.com Touring from North Carolina, she's part Joan Osborne, a touch of Janis Joplin and a bit of Emmylou Harris – her seductive voice effortlessly oscillates from bluesy soul to country and back.

Oliver's new album, "A List Of Names", is currently charting on both Folk (#8 in February!) and Americana radio.

"The fire of a Folk musician is at the heart of the stories on 'A List of Names.' (The CD) shifts sounds, blending diverse styles guided by the vocal drive of Karyn Oliver."
- The Alternate Root

Paul Sachs - https://www.paulsachs.com

Paul Sachs writes lyrical and gritty songs. Born and raised in New York City. Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Springsteen are the songwriters that influenced him, and pushed him into the folk music circles of the city. In 2013 he won the prestigious New Folk Songwriter’s contest at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas.

Sachs still lives in NYC, performing in various venues around the city. He has recorded five independent albums, featuring raw and seeringly personal songs of life and love on the mean streets. His fingerstyle guitar work and powerful voice combine to create mesmerizing vignettes. His CD, "Oil Town" was named one of the top folk albums in 2011 on both the Folk DJ list and Roots Music Report. Sing Out magazine states: "Song after song he creates some lovely melodies. The cuts on "Oil Town" involve those challenged by love, by work, and the struggles created by economic imbalance...This is a keeper, and its excellence grows on you."

July 11th at 7:30pm co-host Devlin Miles

Trina Hamlin - http://www.trinahamlin.com combines gentle understanding with raw emotion in a way that is, quite simply captivating from the first note. With a rich, powerful voice, Hamlin reveals a rare confluence of Midwestern innocence, contemplative focus, and raw passion while adding a disarmingly sharp wit in her stage banter. She seamlessly moves from guitar to piano with self accompaniment on harmonica leaving many who have seen her performance wondering what she can’t do. Regarded as one of the best harmonica players around she presents a driving, sensuous rhythm in her performance that immediately draws audiences in.

In the current climate of “sounds like” artists and “heard it before” lyrics Trina offers an intelligent and refreshing musical experience. Her unique combination of ballads, folk rock and blues has earned her a steady national following. Trina tours full time through out the US and Europe. Additionally she is a much sought after harmonica player and percussionist, accompanying numerous nationally recognized singer songwriters in the studio and live on stage.

Orly Bendavid - https://orlybendavid.com a Brooklyn based, singer/songwriter, and poet. She was chosen to perform on the 2018 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival’s emerging artist stage, and has opened for folk legends Carolann Solebello, Rachael Kilgour, and Bev Grant. Since 2013, Orly has been a recurring member of the Jack Hardy Song exchange, performing her songs frequently in NYC’s music scene, as well as at several “unplugged” Sofar Sounds shows around the city.

Orly and the Mona Dahls’ first album “Mona” was recorded at Grand Street with producer Huw Price (David Bowie, Primal Scream, Nick Cave, and My Bloody Valentine). Mona is a collection of character portraits, “Christine,” about a washed-up former model encountered at a bar, “String Bean,” inspired by an unknown anorexic teenage, pop star; and “Oh God” delving into the depths of addiction, and the cycle of shame it creates.

August 8th at 7:30pm co-host Carolann Solebello

Ganessa James - http://ganessajames.com

I think I was born loving music. Singer, songwriter, guitar and electric bassist Ganessa James makes irresistible music. She has 20 years experience playing bass in soul, funk, and rock music bands. Ganessa got her start on the independent music scene in Brooklyn, where, while playing bass for funk/rock band blaKbushe, she was tapped to join Saul Williams on a North American tour: playing stages from the Wiltern in Los Angeles to Coachella. She briefly served as the NYC bassist for the rock-funk diva artist JOI. She has toured internationally as a bassist, guitarist and vocalist with Tamar-Kali and the Black Rock Coalition Songwriters Tribute. She began working with Toshi Reagon in 2009 and continues to record and play in a selection of Toshi's many incredible projects - she's honored to be a part of the BIGLovely family. Ganessa is also one half of Onliest, a project co-created with her twin sister Tiffany James. Their performances feature harmony driven duets laced with the impish, spontaneous quality born of a lifelong connection and obsession with music.

Lara Herscovitch- https://www.laraherscovitch.com is a gem of a modern American troubadour. A singer-songwriter-poet, performer and advocate, her highly original contemporary folk is spiced with blues, pop and jazz influences. She writes, sings and leads with authenticity, integrity, humor and heart, and delivers performances that inspire, inform, uplift and entertain diverse audiences.

Sound Waves Magazine described her mastery as “expertly written prose… songwriting at its best… Lara gets it all done with her skillful songwriting – musical timing, memorable melodies, and compelling lyrics. It’s good for your ears AND your soul.” This craftsmanship travels on a voice that Performer Magazine called “clear and smooth like expensive liquor,” and is accompanied by guitar infused with her skill as a percussionist.
