Event description
How do you know who to trust for personal investment? How can you make sure that "sustainability" and "good returns" are not either/or?

About this event

Dear fellow P&G Alumni in and around Geneva,

Who could you trust with your personal investment and how would you know? And how should you think about it all when the world is on fire and no-one knows where the markets are headed?

Between negative interest, hidden fees that “someone” forgot to mention, unwelcome encouragement to invest in “old world” like oil or coal and more than a bit of snake oil, I think I can fairly say that Gudrun and I – certainly no experts ourselves - have had a couple of false starts - or maybe more like mediocre experiences - when it comes to finding great professional help with managing financial matters and objectives.

Since a few years however, we’ve found our ‘solution’ as it were. Someone we trust, someone who is interested in OUR objectives and someone who sees no mismatch between “green investment” and sustainable returns. And, not insignificantly, someone who performs.

James Barnes runs Alpha Global Wealth here in Geneva and apart from finding him very personable and helpful for us, we’ve also learnt that he counts a number of our fellow alumni amongst his clients. You may recognize a few of them too: Paris Kafantaris, Marco Pattori, Matt Lashmar, Kevin Lawson, Stephen Squire and Andy Mill, all of whom have shared excellent experiences with James too.

A significant "a-ha" for us personally was to learn from James that our P&G shareholdings could be subject to a 40% tax penalty as long as they remain in a US-based depot. OK, we should probably have known all along but we didn’t. Now we do and have been able to act on it.

This is the kind of simple and practical advice that we thought other alumni would benefit from. And before anyone reads anything else into this: no, there is no financial exchange between us personally and Alpha, nor is the Alumni chapter formally or informally endorsing James and Alpha in return for anything. It is what it is: a chance for a couple of personal financial a-ha’s which we ourselves appreciated so thought others might too!

James has agreed to host us for one of our first live networking events for years on Tuesday, May 24th 2022 at Hotel des Bergues in Geneva. The price we pay for live networking in some style is that James and one of his key colleagues will do a brief “advertising break” albeit in the shape of a short keynote on how sustainable investment is not just the new green, but the new black too.

Space is very limited so book your ticket straight away! Registrations are open until May 21st.

If you register but later find you cannot participate please let us know on hello@pgalumsgeneva.com so we can release any spare tickets. NB that reserved but unused tickets will be subject to a subsequent CHF50 donation towards nominated chapter charities.

If you have any questions, additions or comments, please get in touch with the committee via hello@pgalumsgeneva.com

We look forward to seeing you!
