Live Concert in support of la Olla Comunitaria

In a country like Guatemala, where poverty is the condition of more than 50% of the total population, employment is precarious and temporary, and during emergencies like COVID-19 the economic contradictions that are historical, become more evident, it is very difficult to be indifferent to the reality that #GuatemalaIsHungry

Thousands of people have been supported daily by the Olla Comunitaria, a solidarity movement that started in Guatemala City and has spread to 8 more places including Xela, Antigua Guatemala, Santiago Atitlán, Cobán, San Juan Chamelco, Santa Licía Cotzumalguapa, Amatitlán and 2 in El Salvador.

From our artists' collective in New York, Colectivo de Artistas en NY, Florecerás Guatemala, we stand in solidarity with the efforts of the organizers, volunteers and collaborators to help thousands of people in need who have been neglected by the State. We have seen with admiration and affection how they have grown and their effort has multiplied.

From our artistry and possibilities, we want to contribute to this cause while holding the state accountable for its indifference and inefficiency and demanding attention to each of the following demands:

- That the state stands up for the medical personnel and complies with the necessary supplies and salaries. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State stands up for the families who are on the street today because they were evicted for lack of payment. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State stands up for the Q13 billion debt that has not been executed to address the crisis. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State stands up for the deported migrants who have not received dignified treatment or attention to the coronavirus. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State stands up for homeless people, infected by the virus, who have been abandoned and ignored. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State stands up for the street vendors that have not been included in the lists of mayors to opt for social programs. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State of the face for the children who are dying from malnutrition in the dry corridor, where food is not reaching. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State stands up for the factory workers who have been infected by risking it under pressure from the business elite. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State stands up for all people with disabilities, older adults and single mothers who do not have a home, a plate of food and a fixed income to stay home during the pandemic. #GuatemalaIsHungry

-That the State stands up for the more than two thousand people who eat La Olla Comunitaria daily, because the State neglected them. #GuatemalaIsHungry

All the funds collected during the concert will be transferred to La Olla Comunitaria de Rayuela, to be later distributed among the different places and according to internal criteria of priority and need. Concierto en Vivo en apoyo a la Olla Comunitaria

En un país como Guatemala, donde la pobreza es la condición de más del 50% de la población total, el empleo es precario y temporal y en emergencias como COVID-19 se evidencian las contradicciones económicas que son históricas, es muy difícil ser indiferente ante la realidad que #GuatemalaTieneHambre.

Miles de personas han sido apoyadas a diario por la Olla Comunitaria, un movimiento que inició en la Ciudad de Guatemala y se ha extendido a lugares como Xela, Antigua Guatemala, Santiago Atitlán, Cobán, San Juan Chamelco, Santa Luicía Cotzumalguapa, Amatitlán y 2 en El Salvador.

En el Colectivo de Artistas en Nueva York, Florecerás Guatemala nos solidarizamos con el esfuerzo de lxs organizadorxs, voluntarixs y colaboradorxs. Hemos visto con admiración y cariño como han crecido y su esfuerzo se ha multiplicado.

Desde nuestros oficios y posibilidades, queremos contribuir a esta causa a la vez que responsabilizamos a el estado por su indiferencia e ineficiencia y exigimos atención a cada una de las siguientes demandas:

- Que el estado dé la cara por el personal médico y cumpla con los insumos necesarios y salarios. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado dé la cara por las familias que hoy están en la calle porque fueron desalojadas por falta de pago. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado dé la cara por la deuda de Q13 mil millones que no sea ejecutado para atender la crisis. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado dé la cara por lxs migrantes retornados que no han recibido un trato digno ni atención ante el coronavirus. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado de la cara por las personas en condición de calle, infectadas por el virus, que han sido abandonadas e ignoradas. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado de la cara por lxs comerciantes de la economía popular que no han sido incluidxs en los listados de los alcaldes para optar a los programas sociales. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado de la cara por lxs niñxs que están muriendo por desnutrición en el corredor seco, a donde no están llegando los alimentos. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado de la cara por lxs trabajadores de maquila que se han contagiado por arriesgarlxs ante las presiones de la élite empresarial. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado dé la cara por todas las personas con discapacidad, adultxs mayores y madres solteras que no tienen un techo digno, un plato de comida y un ingreso fijo para quedarse en casa durante la pandemia. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

-Que el Estado dé la cara por las más de dos mil personas que a diario comen de La Olla Comunitaria, porque el Estado se olvidó de ellas. #GuatemalaTieneHambre

Todos los fondos colectados durante el concierto serán transferidos a La Olla Comunitaria de Rayuela, para luego ser distribuidxs entre los distintos lugares y de acuerdo a criterios internos de prioridad y necesidad.
