Featuring Ms. Marjorie Eliot & Musical Guests, in collaboration with Visual Artist Andrea Arroyo.
A special Live Art and Music Experience, featuring the musical talents of jazz legend Ms. Marjorie Eliot, and live painting by award-winning visual artist Andrea Arroyo.
Ms. Arroyo and Ms. Eliot have been engaged in a creative collaboration for over three years.
This event is presented in conjunction with Ms. Arroyo’s current exhibition and artist residency “Boundless - The Women of the Mansion” which honors historic and contemporary women of upper Manhattans.
About the artists: Ms. Marjorie Eliot is a celebrated musician, actress and playwright, she hosts the acclaimed Parlor Jazz concerts every Sunday since 1993, keeping the jazz tradition alive by featuring veteran performers and up and coming musicians, and attracting audiences from all over the world.
Ms. Andrea Arroyo is a visual artist with an extensive trajectory. She has received numerous recognitions, including Clinton Global Citizen Award Artist, Outstanding Woman of New York, 21 Leaders for the 21st Century and Official Artist of the Latin Grammys. Ms. Arroyo’s work has been published in numerous journals, including The New Yorker and The New York Times. It has also been the subject of over 150 features in the international media.

EXHIBIT: June 4-30, 2016.
An exhibition of paintings and site-specific, outdoor works created during Andrea Arroyo's Artist's Residency at the Morris-Jumel Mansion, the first of its kind for the museum.
Visitors can engage with the artist on-site, as she creates new works to be incorporated into the exhibition through her residency from June 4-30, 2016.
A variety of public programs will be presented in conjunction with the exhibition, including:
6/11, 2-4pm: “Butterflies at the Mansion,” Family workshop with live Mexican music (Son Jarocho.) Presented in collaboration with Mano a Mano: Mexican Culture Without Borders.
6/19, 1-2:30pm: “Live Art & Live Jazz, with Andrea Arroyo
and Jazz Legend Ms. Marjorie Eliot”
6/26, 1-4pm: “Open Studio with Andrea Arroyo” (Uptown Art Stroll Open Studios.)
Dates TBD: “Community Labyrinth,” join the artist in the creation of a land art piece.
“Artist At Work” sessions. Engage with the artist during her residency (Times will be posted weekly.)
