Live a Brighter Life | An Empowerment Program for Living (pre-TTT, Online)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Note: This is a pre-recorded multiple-session online class. You will receive a link to access all recordings upon registration.
'Live a Brighter Life' (LABL) is a 6-session open-source training created by the Indrani's Light Foundation (ILF) a non-profit dedicated to a single goal: the eradication of gender-based violence in the world. For the last 3 years, ILF has conducted in-person 'Live a Brighter Life' workshops to small groups in the US and India, and beginning January 2014, will offer an online version as a basis for its first train-the-trainer program.
The online LABL program represents the foundation's intention to make the 6 modules, detailed below, openly available for anyone who wishes to participate, and take positive action to thrive in the face of change, challenge and adversity. The curriculum is based on positive psychology research and employs proven life coaching tools. Applicable to anyone who wants to live a brighter life, it has already helped hundreds of women and men who have been mentally, emotionally and/or physically abused.
Specific outcomes of the curriculum include:
- how to stand in our own power, respect ourselves, breaking cycles of shame or self-criticism, and making new choices that will benefit new generations
This program is open source, so what does 'open-source' mean?
The 'Live a Brighter Life' curriculum is offered under Creative Commons license for free, for personal, non-commercial use, in keeping with the foundation's philosophy of generosity first. By registering for this program, you can (1) benefit directly from the material in your own life (2) integrate parts of the program in the course of your life and any existing work (so long as you give attribution, and do not promote a commercial offering solely using the material) and (3) prepare yourself as a potential trainer of the work through the ILF Train-the-Trainer program, beginning mid 2014.
*Note: Currently, there is no commercially available license to do more with the curriculum, nor is it permissble to adapt the work, although source material will be provided so you can do your own synthesis.
By registering for this free course you will be sent a link where you can access all six audio recordings. The specific sessions cover:
Session #1: Setting Boundaries: Define Your Personal Space
Session #2: Saying No: Say 'Yes' to a New Way
Session #3: Letting Go: Uncover Your Self-Respect
Session #4: Finding Resilience: Uncover Your Self-Compassion

Your teachers for all 6 sessions are Indrani Goradia, Founder, and Andrea Lee, Director of Planning of the Indrani's Light Foundation. Future generations of the course will be available once the first trained teachers have completed their coursework. ILF never charges centers or shelters for the 'Live a Brighter Life' program, seeking to extend budgets and resources with the program as a way to meet client needs.
Note: Registration in this program includes subscription to the Indrani's Light Foundation online newsletter, for updates and information about ILF activities and future programs, including the Train the Trainer dates for 2014.

"I was excited, ecstatic when Indrani brought her workshop to our community. Our women had an opportunity to share space and stories, and came away with a deeper, more meaningful truth about themselves and the world they live in. I can't emphasize enough how important this work is." - Women's Center Program Director
"I was at a precipice in life and could not think out of the box of my troubled waters. During those times I was invited to attend Indrani's workshops! It seems they have given me the resilience, positive energy and a different perception of viewing the world and solving my problems. Indrani definitely gave me the energy to redefine and assemble my existence once more, to fight and win solutions to my problems MY WAY." - Women's Shelter client
