About this Event

How can we support the age-friendly movement in Connecticut? Are there easy-to-implement ways of getting started where we work or live?

This workshop will explore the impact of changing demographics on communities and how the experience of growing up and growing older can be shaped by where we live. Three special guests will share varied approaches and ideas that you can use to create a community that is more livable for all ages.

  • Connecticut AARP will present the “Roadmap to Livability” and offer examples of local communities that are bringing this to life.
  • Sustainable CT will provide an overview of its voluntary municipal certification program that is helping to build thriving and resilient communities. Learn how the program dovetails with the age-friendly movement.
  • Woodbury Senior Services Director Loryn Ray will describe their Town Conversations on Aging and how community discussions led to specific actions to help make Woodbury more liveable for older residents.

Trainer: Donna Fedus, gerontologist and founder of Borrow My Glasses

Engaging Aging workshops combine new ideas, effective programs worth sharing and key concepts in gerontology. This workshop:
