Event description

Description

We at LIV and our collaborators would like to invite you to co-create a biotech community together with us. On the 4th October, we will host the first ever meetup for the biotech community around LIV, related to living matter and wet-research in the Greater Copenhagen area.

The purpose of the community is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between life-science, foodtech, pharma, agrotech, biomedia art, biodesign, living architecture, plant science and other forms of biology. This will happen through online platforms and social media, but importantly, we want to get people meet face-to-face at our workshops, talks, meetups and other kinds of events.

The agenda for this launch event is to:

* reveal the name and the common hashtag for the community

* get to know who's in the community

* share announcements, updates and invitations from the community

* socialise, chat, share reflections and sprout new ideas and projects

* learn how to become part of the community

Contact us if you want to hold a 5 min lightning talk, or want to nominate someone to do it. Everyone can give one-sentence announcements, invitations and info.

The background is the rapid and continuing development in biological science & biotechnology over the past few years, and wet-research that is being applied across a plethora of very different disciplines - from design, through art, to agriculture, cooking and architecture.

We have therefore taken the initiative to take two important steps in finding a solution to the challenges posed in this new reality:

1) to create a community-based co-working laboratory that can make it easier to test your ideas in a professional lab, whether you are a recent graduate, have a full time position at a university or a company or are a skilled and curious individual without prior knowledge about biology or biotechnology. This co-working laboratory is called LIV, it's an independent organisation, located at Singularity University.

2) to facilitate the creation of a community around LIV, related to living matter and wet-research in the broadest term. This community will foster interdiciplinary collaboration between life-science, foodtech, pharma, aggrotech, biomedia art, biodesign, living architecture, plant science and other forms of biology. This will happen through online platforms and social media, but importantly, we want to get people meet face to face at our workshops, talks, hackathons and other kinds of meetups and events.

Join us on the 4th October to discuss the vision for the LIV community across these many disciplines and to co-create it with us. At this event we will explain how to participate in the LIV community, including memberships and other possibilities.

We are looking forward to seeing you!
