Description

The goal of this program is to prepare athletes who are participating in The 5 Points of Life LIV Relay Team to safely and effectively run 5-6.2 miles. The program will progressively build athletes up to completing a 5-mile leg of the race. This program will include distance runs, interval style training, and accessory prehab homework.

Our regularly scheduled 11:00a Sunday CrossFit class will change for the next 8-weeks to be more endurance focused. 10:00a Sunday classes will remain our traditional CrossFit class.

Additionally, the program will include a second running day each week. Athletes are recommended to do it on their own or with a self-organized group (organized through our Facebook group). We recommend completing this second run Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of each week.

Finally, coaches will include prehab homework, similar to the movement enhancement program, to be available for athletes. This prehab will focus on hips/glutes and calves/ankles to help prevent overuse injuries and optimize running mechanics.

It is recommended that athletes perform the prehab as a warm-up or cool-down 1-3 times a week. We will run through the movements as cool-down for first few class meetups.
