Description

Sing to the Lord: Catholic Music and Ministry in Today’s Church
To paraphrase St. Augustine, the one who sings prays twice. Music has always been an integral part of Catholic worship. The first part of this workshop presents an historical overview of liturgical music, leading up to the reforms of Vatican II. During the second part of the morning we take a deeper look at the ritual and structural components of Sunday Mass and discover how music remains an essential component. Finally, in the afternoon we conclude with pastoral suggestions for worshiping communities who wish to increase the level of sung participation. Our goal is to renew our relationships with God and with one another and to fine-tune our ministerial skills and vocation. Lunch provided.

Morning Session: 9am to 11:30 am
