About this Event

Junior League of Colorado Springs is excited to announce our 2019 Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) which will take place the week of February 11th.

Please join us for our Little Black Dress Initiative kickoff event at Peak Place on Monday, February 11th from 6pm- 9:00pm. The event will include a 5-10 minute introduction of the Junior League of Colorado Springs and our Little Black Dress Initiative.

Wine and beer will be available for purchase with a percent of proceeds going towards our cause. Non-alcoholic options are also available.

A silent auction will be held with great Valentine's Day baskets and gifts for him and her; as well as vendors offering a variety of gift options.

All proceeds will be donated to Fostering Hope. To learn more about their work, visit https://www.fosteringhopefoundation.org/.

Space is limited and registration is required. Admission is by donation and all are welcome to attend!  Donations are accepted at the door, and can be made by cash or credit.

What is the Little Black Dress Initiative?

LBDI is a week-long event that uses the iconic "Little Black Dress" to raise awareness about the focus area of JLCS: the foster care system in our community. Throughout the week, participants will wear the same little black dress, or outfit, for 5 days in-a-row with the purpose of raising awareness about foster care needs within our community and encouraging participants and others to consider the scarcity of resources available to some children within the system. Along with the attire, participants will be asked to harness the power of social media to further spread awareness.

According to CO4kids.org, an average of 14 Colorado children and teens are placed in foster care each day. The families that unselfishly sacrifice to take in foster children and the children and teens in foster care and transitioning out of it need our support!
