LitFest: Craig Davidson & Precious Cargo
Before the success of his novels Cataract City and Rust and Bone, author Craig Davidson experienced a period of great doubt about his abilities as a writer. One morning in 2008, desperate, impoverished, and living in a one-room basement apartment, Davidson plucked a flyer out of his mailbox that read "Bus Drivers Wanted." That was the first step towards an unlikely new career: driving a school bus full of special-needs kids for a year. Precious Cargo is Davidson's memoir of that year; it is a moving and important story about how people with specials needs are seen and treated in our society.
