About this Event

Brickell Avenue Literary Society would like to welcome all literary enthusiasts to join us at our upcoming author luncheon with bestselling author John Burnham Schwartz.

Join us on Thursday, May 2 for a delicious buffet luncheon where guests will have the unique opportunity to engage with author John Burnham Schwartz in an intimate and personal setting. Each attendee will receive their own signed copy of Schwartz's The Red Daughter and are welcome to participate in a Q&A following the author's discussion. We invite you to join our community of literature lovers for an unforgettable experience, bring your friends, too!

John Burnham Schwartz

John Burnham Schwartz is the bestselling author of five novels, including Northwest Corner, The Commoner, and Reservation Road, which was made into a film based on his screenplay. His books have been translated into twenty languages, and he has done extensive screen and television writing for the major Hollywood studios, including as screenwriter of HBO Films' The Wizard of Lies starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer, for which he was nominated for a 2018 Writers Guild of America Award for Outstanding Writing. John Burnham Schwartz is also the Literary Director of the Sun Valley Writers' Conference.

The Red Daughter

In one of the most momentous events of the Cold War, Svetlana Allilyueva, the forty-one-year-old daughter of the notorious tyrannical leader of the USSR, abruptly abandoned her life in Moscow in 1967, arriving in New York to throngs of reporters and a nation hungry to hear her story. By her side is Peter Horvath, a lawyer in his mid-thirties who is sent by the CIA to escort Svetlana to America.

Membership Details:

Non-members are welcome to attend up to two literary luncheons per season and are only required to pay the event fee which includes lunch, a signed copy of the speakers book, and parking.

Prices:

  • For Individuals, the price is $50
  • For Young Professionals (under 35), the price is $30.
