Literacy & Numeracy Concepts in the Early Years

Literacy & Numeracy Concepts in the Early Years

By The Advent School

Overview

How can teachers combine play, emergent curriculum, and developmentally appropriate academic work in early childhood settings?

Join Maura Kiernan and Emily Simon, Advent Learning Specialists, and Amanda Behen, Assistant Head, as we focus on early literacy and numeracy concepts in order to think big picture about strategies and structures that work across ages and disciplines. Advent’s learning specialists will share an overview of key literacy and numeracy concepts in early childhood, which provide the foundation for academic learning later. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with hands-on provocations that support early literacy and numeracy development. Following the presentation, they will have a chance to revisit the materials and begin designing provocations they can implement in their own learning spaces.

This workshop is for teachers, teaching teams, teacher coaches, and others interested in learning how to support early literacy and numeracy skills.
