Literacy, Language and Family Involvement
Come join us for an evening of learning about literacy for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. This presentation is for families of deaf children and it offers a deaf person's perspective on growing up. Sheri Cook will discuss research and the impact of family involvement in a deaf/hard of hearing child's language acquisition skills. She will describe details of how her parents and grandparents contributed to her and her deaf sister's language and academic development. She will also share helpful tips and activities. Teachers, educational interpreters, administrators and other professionals are encouraged to attend this workshop as well. Refreshments will be served from 5:30-6:00 pm. Presentation from 6:00-7:00 pm. Activities will be available for deaf children ages 3 and up during the presentation.
