Equitable Practices for Reading & Dyslexia

9:00-10:15: Keynote: Equitable Practices for Reading: Implementing Strong Screening, Instruction and Interventions for Reading, Sarah Sayko, Deputy Director, National Center on Improving Literacy (NCIL), Room 180
~9:30-9:45: Reading & Dyslexia Handbook bill, Kirwan & Education Update, House Majority Leader, Delegate Eric Luedtke, Chair, House Subcommittee on Revenue, Ways & Means Committee, Room 180 (after Del. Luedtke finishes the Keynote will resume)

Tips & Reminders for Attendees

Wear RED: Business attire with comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking. Many attendees wear red which symbolizes the parent-teacher partnership in turning the "proverbial red ink" into success for all students!

Youth Session: Be sure to bring your students! Students will focus on their creative side and assemble and personalize "Grow a Reader" plants to deliver to legislative offices. Students will also learn about the Reading & Dyslexia Handbook which can help their schools and districts help students with dyslexia and reading difficulties.

Parking & Security
Accessing the Legislative Complex: Interactive Maps Link with Parking & photos
Public Buildings Map and Parking Options -- If you park at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium to take the shuttle, the cost is $4 round trip and $5 to access the parking lot at the stadium. The shuttle requires exact change in cash. Leave at least 30 minutes to park, catch the trolley and ride to the House Office Building. There are also a number of parking garages within walking distance to the House Office Building and Gott's Parking Garage is the closest on Taylor Avenue.
Security
All attendees must pass through building security and should allow about 10 minutes (or more) depending on the line to get in the building. Please have a photo identification ready. The entrance to House Office Building is on the side of the building on Bladen Street, middle door and there is no parking on Bladen Street.
