Want to help select the next great entrepreneurial idea in Memphis?
Join us on Friday, December 9th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm to hear emcee Phillip Ashley and 25 amazing high school students pitch their entrepreneurial ideas to the community. Audience members will help in selecting $1,000 in additional funds for 2 students. Examples of ideas include:
-Popup theatre 1 act plays for students to express their feelings on community issues
-Recruitment campaign to get more male teachers in the classroom.
-Phone app to increase motivation/self-regulation
-Comedy showcase to battle depression/mental illness in African-American communities.
-Customized job prep boxes for homeless communities in Memphis
From 5 pm to 5:30 pm, audience members will hear from 18 different students via elevator pitches at booths. From 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, 7 finalists will pitch on stage to the community for the chance at funding. We will have a reception with food from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm when we will announce the winners of the pitch contest. Corky's and Simply Delicious Catering are providing food for the reception.
LITE secured over $2.6 million in merit scholarships for the class of 2016 finalists and 86% of students reported signficant growth in career skills.
Sign up now because seating is limited and we are expecting to sell out of tickets.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Free parking will be provided in the lot on Dudley and Union. When you turn off Union onto Dudley, please turn right into the Reserved section. The gate should be open and you can park there.
What is the dress code?
Dress is business casual.
Can I show up anytime during the event?
Out of respect to the students, we ask that you try to arrive at 5 pm. Since funding is at stake for all students, we hope that audience members respect that tardiness affects their ability to get extra support for their idea.
