Celebrate Black women in literature in Houston's historic Fifth Ward!
Lindsay Gary and Afrikanah Book Club present: "Lit in the Fifth!"
“Lit in The Fifth” is a one-day literary event created to highlight the African American literary tradition while also making literature more accessible to Houston’s historic Fifth Ward community.
Focusing on the voices of African American women in literature, the event will feature a full day of literary activities including:
--The launch and book signing of Lindsay Gary's highly anticipated publication "The New Red Book: A Guide to 50 of Houston's Black Historical and Cultural Sites"
--Author talks, panels, and readings by local Black women authors
--Children's Zone with workshops and activities
--Performances and Presentations from:
Reading with a Rapper
TSU Debate Team
Dance Afrikana
Voices of Houston
and more!
--Vendors of books, beauty products, and crafts
--Food trucks
