Why should I attend?
As a community organization, you rely on people to invest in and sustain your work, which means building deeper relationships with your current audience while also constantly seeking new audiences. We know this is a struggle. And with limited time and resources and a world of opportunity, it’s hard to know where to get started.
Good community engagement goes beyond simply posting to social media. Deep listening and creative ways of interacting with the public will help you build relationships that keep people invested in your work long-term.
At this workshop we'll inspire you with real world examples and help you build new skills in listening and engaging with the public in order to strengthen your long-term sustainability.
ListenUp NJ is an initiative aimed at journalists and nonprofit leaders in New Jersey who want to build their community engagement skills to both strengthen and grow their audiences. At this creative studio, which is a project of the Dodge Foundation, we will explore what good community engagement looks like through compelling examples from across the country. We will guide participants through better listening and other in-person and online techniques that will help you build your networks. We also will brainstorm how to sustain this work beyond the workshop.
And, we will eat good food from a local caterer, enjoy each other’s company for the day, and have some fun, too. The event is free for all participants. '
If you have questions or would like to learn more about getting involved, please contact studio producer Jeanne Brooks at email@example.com.
