In 2015, a small group of friends came together one evening over a novel idea: to have a fancy "fundraiser" where the goal was to raise awareness instead of money. We listened to three powerful stories and promised to advocate for these issues by standing up to hate, ignorance, and misinformation.
Come join us this month as we listen to three new personal accounts on transgender rights, Black Lives, and Mexican immigration, issues most affected by the changing administration. No PowerPoints. No scripts. Just storytelling on a mission.
This event is free and open to the public, however space is limited, and ticketing is strictly enforced. Please check back a week before the event for tickets.
Attire: This is a storytelling gala. Please dress nicely. Standing-room only.
Food: There will be complimentary h'ordeuvres and wine and beer for purchase.
Contributions: The primary objective is to inform and involve, and the owners of the Octopus Literary Salon have generously donated the space for the evening, but we will collect pay-as-you-wish contributions via cash and Venmo to offset cost of food and supplies. All funds in excess will be divided among three organizations of the speakers' choosings.
Please send a message if interested in volunteering.
***Note: this event features the same three speakers from our December San Francisco storytelling gala.***
