LION Webinar: Preserving digital news archives
Event Information
Description
Your news coverage is essential to your community, and has become part of your community's history. So what happens to that history if a technical problem eats part of your archives? What happens to that history should your news site be sold or shut down one day?
Edward McCain, digital curator of journalism at the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri, has been sounding the alarm about the need to do a better job preserving digital news archives.
In this webinar, he'll outline the scope of potential issues and tell you what steps you can take to sleep better at night about preserving the work to which you've dedciated your career.
Prior to his academic work, McCain was a photographer for 25 years for the Los Angeles Times, National Geographic Traveler, Sports Illustrated, Sunset Magazine, The Washington Post and for various corporations.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Missouri School of Journalism and Master of Arts degree in information resources and library science with a certificate in digital information management from the University of Arizona.
