Event description

Description

Learn how to carve and hand print your very own linoleum block. This three hour workshop, led by Carmen McNall, will explore the basics of linoleum block carving and teach the skills to create an original print from start to finish. Each student comes away with the skills and take-home toolkit to continue their printmaking at home. This workshop is great as an introduction, or for those revisiting the process who are interested in learning how to linocut print at home.

Carmen McNall is a San Francisco based printmaker and installation artist. She uses the woodcut process in nontraditional ways to tell the stories of individuals from all over the world. Using the relationship of people and their environments, she creates a candid intimacy that connect us to each other. She is deeply moved by those who work with their hands, keeping alive the artifacts of humanity. She finds great importance in the passing down of trades from generation to generation, commanding a presence and pride as craft-makers and workers of dying traditions.
