Lineage Panel and Workshop

Do you have Revolutionary War, Mayflower, or early California ancestor in your family tree? Wondered about the process of joining one of the many lineage societies to honor them and how they could help your research? We're assembling a panel of representatives including the Sons and the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Society, the Society of California Pioneers, the Jamestowne Society, Los Californianos, and more who will explain the whys and hows of lineage society membership. Stay for our afternoon session and get one on one help with application questions (separate registration).
Laura Manion is a CGS member and National Board Certified Teacher who teaches in San Francisco. She holds a bachelor’s degree in the Great Books of Western Civilization from St. John’s College, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Mississippi, and Certificate in Genealogy Research from Boston University. She is a member of ProGen 29
Pre-registration is required. Class size is limited so register early.
CGS members enjoy free admission.
Non-member admission fee is $30.00* and can be applied towards a new one year CGS membership the day of the class.
Register early to confirm your seat. Walk-ins will not be admitted.

Whether you have Gold Rush ancestors or have no family connection to California, you will find extensive support for your genealogy research at the California Genealogical Society (CGS) in Oakland. The society offers research services, online indexes and databases, and a research library housing over 38,000 reference materials from California, the United States, and around the world. CGS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The library is conveniently located in Uptown Oakland, one block north of the Paramount Theatre, at 2201 Broadway, Suite LL2. We are three blocks from the 19th Street BART Station.
